This is a night shot of the Dan Accadia hotel where I am staying in Israel. This is my first time going to Israel and it is because I am fortunate to have a good job that lets me do these things.
In the past two years I have been to Singapore (twice), Germany (3 times), Hong Kong, Japan, California, Virginia, Switzerland (3 times!), London, Orlando, South Africa and now Israel. How amazing. As a little boy growing up in a small city in Southern Illinois I always imagined some day that I would be able to see the world. Many people wish such things and I feel very blessed to occasionally get to do them.
I also am glad that I don’t have to travel all of the time, just occasionally. That way I can be with my family most of the time.

The other reason I chose opportunity is because last night I blew a big opportunity to get some photos! I have blown a few chances here in Israel to do fun things but this one was a big screwup.
We went over to a mall which is close to the hotel to grab some souvenirs and get something to eat. I did not take my camera. Well, we decided to take a taxi into Tel Aviv and ended up going to Old Jaffa to find better gifts, which is a place that still has many old and beautiful buildings. There is a great beach path where you can walk along and get pictures. I could have taken many night shots of the city skyline reflected in the water and some awesome scenes of well-lit buildings in the darkness. Arrgggh! I may never be back here again! I missed my chance!
A missed opportunity but a learning experience. That will never happen to me again. I am always going to take my camera!!!
