I just applied to become a member of BlogRush, which is the new venture of a man named John Reese, who is spoken of in Internet marketing circles the way E.F. Hutton used to be on those commercials, in other words, when John Reese speaks (or comes out with a new plan for marketing) people listen.
The idea behind BlogRush is that you sign up for a free account for your blog, which is categorized, and then you place a small bit of code on your blog and this code generates a small widget that shows relevant, dynamic blog posts from different blogs also using the BlogRush service.
As people look at my blog they will see these other sites and click on the links if the post summaries look interesting. Of course, the benefit for me is that there will also be other sites where viewers are going to see my post summaries. I have already gone to a few links posted in the BlogRush widget on my site and found a couple of good photo-related blogs.
We will see if it brings traffic in the next few days and weeks. I will post a summary with some results next week some time.
It seems like a legitimate way to drive traffic to different blogs, by targeting the actual people who will want to read those specific types of posts, and is designed to be viral.
If someone clicks on one of my links in the widget on another site I will get more postings in widgets on various blog sites, if someone uses my referral link to sign up I will get more postings. It should build and become more and more beneficial the more blogs that sign up.
